IOWA GRAND MOTORCYCLE RALLY & CITY OF NEWTON ENCOURAGE BIKERS TO ‘RIDE SOBER’
NEWTON, Iowa – July 24, 2012 Officials of Iowa Speedway and the City of Newton have teamed up to encourage motorcycle enthusiasts attending this week’s inaugural Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally, Wednesday through Saturday, to ‘Ride Sober’ while on the streets and highways surrounding the Iowa Speedway facility.
“We want our guests to be safe, especially while they’re riding on public roads,” said Conrad Clement, Chairman of Iowa Speedway’s Board of Directors. “The Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally is going to be a fun event, and we expect there will be a lot of partying going on all four days, given all the great bands and celebrities performing. We are simply encouraging everyone to stay here if you party here, and there are plenty of camping spaces available on site.
“Just don’t drink and ride,” Clement concluded.
Newton Mayor Chaz Allen echoed Clement’s advice to rally guests, and suggested ways to prevent serious incidents or accidents while still enjoying the Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally.
“We want to welcome everyone to Newton, and the Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally” Allen said. “Whether you’re just here for one day, or the whole rally, we want you to have a great time but drink responsibly. We have a list of local taxicab companies available, and each one of them will take you safely to either your hotel or back to your campsite at the rally.”
The Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally is a four-day lifestyle event, dedicated to celebrating the culture of motorcyclists. Tickets and additional information on the rally are available online at www.iowagrandrally.com, or by calling 866-787-8946.
