Kurt Busch’s No. 54 Monster Energy Camry:
Chassis KBM-009: KBM will unload car #009, the team’s inaugural race-winning Camry from Richmond International Raceway, just three weeks ago. The driver then was also Kurt Busch, who led three times for 68 laps, including the final 29 which yielded him the victory.
The win for Kurt Busch at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) was the fourth of his career in the Nationwide Series. It also registered as the third time in his NNS career when Busch accomplished a victory from his first venue start, last completing the feat in 2006 at Texas Motor Speedway and 2011 at Watkins Glen International.
The backup machine for this weekend’s No. 54 team is one that is frequently on standby, Chassis
KBM-007.
Notes of Interest:
No. 54 Monster Energy team support driver Drew Herring will sign autographs on Iowa Speedway grounds Saturday, May 19th from 2:00pm – 2:45pm, before his KBM team qualifying effort.
With an eighth-place finish at Darlington Raceway, the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 54 NNS entry remains 11th in the Series Owner’s Point Standings, 86 points out of first place through nine races completed.
2012 season statistics for Kyle Busch Motorsports’ new NNS team include: nine starts, one win, two top-five finishes, four top-10 finishes, zero poles and 162 laps led.
Kurt Busch’s win at Richmond International Raceway was KBM’s first in the Nationwide Series and 17th NASCAR victory as a company; the team has 16 Truck Series wins in 76 races since debuting in 2010.
Kyle Busch will return as driver of the No. 54 Monster Energy Camry at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25th.
