Danica Watch: NYC Media Tour
IZOD INDYCar Series star Danica Patrick arrives to Daytona Int'l Speedway on Thursday for a five-hour practice session in preparation for her stock car debut in Saturday's Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards race. However, a media tour in New York City has kept her pretty far from Daytona so far this week.
"In three days I'm going to be racing and I'm sitting here in New York City," Patrick said in an interview for ESPN First Take on Wednesday. "I need to get to Daytona. I'm nervous. I want to do a good job and I know quite a few people are paying attention. At the end of the day I think everybody understands that this is going to be a long process and there will be a definite learning curve. I just need to be calm and patient with the process."
Patrick spent the day in New York City for a media tour with Jim Belushi (actor), Bruce Jenner (former Olympic decathlon champion), Patty Loveless (singer) and Michael Strahan (NFL Football Player) to promote screening for Chronic Pulmonary Disease and the recently-renamed DRIVE4COPD NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona, which takes place one week after Saturday's ARCA race.
She will serve as grand marshal for the NNS season opener but has not yet decided if she will participate in the race as a driver. That decision lingers on her comfort level following Saturday's ARCA Racing Series race.
