RUSTY’S WALK WILL ADD TO LIST OF IOWA SPEEDWAY FESTIVITIES
Fans are invited to join The NASCAR Foundation in honoring NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace by participating in Rusty’s Walk at Iowa Speedway presented by Iowa Pork Producers Association on Sat., July 31. NASCAR fans and community members will have the unique opportunity to walk a lap around the 7/8-mile track alongside the 1989 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion as well as NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers Steve Arpin, Brian Scott, Steve Wallace and Josh Wise before the start of the U.S. Cellular 250 NASCAR Nationwide race (7 p.m. ET; ESPN2).
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. and is $30 in advance or $35 at the track. To register online for Rusty’s Walk visit WWW.NASCAR.COM/foundation and click “Track Walks.” At-track registration will take place from 2-7:30 p.m. on Fri., July 30 in the midway near Ticket Booth 1 and from 8-10:45 a.m. on Sat., July 31 at the credentials location. Children 14 and under are free with a registered adult. All walkers will receive a commemorative event t-shirt.
This event is part of a week full of activities at Iowa Speedway highlighted by the Rusty Roast of Richard Childress presented by Musco Lighting on Thurs., July 29. Wallace will be joined in hosting duties by his brother and NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Kenny Wallace. The event will feature special presentations by NASCAR President Mike Helton, Featherlite CEO Conrad Clement, SIRIUS NASCAR Radio personality Chocolate Myers, and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer.
Not only will fans get an up-close and personal experience at the track that Wallace helped design, but they will also be helping those in need through The NASCAR Foundation. The Foundation seeks to raise funds and increase volunteerism to support non-profit charities and charitable causes throughout the nation that help children live happier, healthier lives. Since 2006, The NASCAR Foundation has helped provide medical treatment for more than 19,000 children annually at Speediatrics, fulfilled more than 500 NASCAR Dreams, sent more than 500 kids to Victory Junction camp, recruited 12,000 fans to become part of The NASCAR Foundation Volunteer Network and created educational opportunities for school-aged students that help engage them in science and engineering programs.
Fans are also encouraged to sign up for online team fundraising. The top fundraiser who raises a minimum of $250 (in addition to the registration fee) will receive two pre-race pit passes to driver introductions and a ticket upgrade to the exclusive Newton Club at Iowa Speedway on race day.
