Michael Annett to Pilot No. 15 Northland Oil Toyota Camry at Home Track in Iowa Speedway Nationwide Series Race

Michael Annett has been looking forward to the NASCAR Nationwide Series’ second ever appearance at his home track, Iowa Speedway, since the start of the 2010 season. Driving Germain Racing’s No. 15 Toyota Camry with presenting race sponsor, Northland Oil, as the primary sponsor, Annett is excited to hit the track again in front of a sold-out crowd of local Hawkeyes cheering him on in the U.S.
Cellular 250 presented by Northland Oil and John Deere.

While most Nationwide Series drivers will only be making their second run around Iowa Speedway’s .875 mile track this weekend, Des Moines, Iowa native Annett already holds a prestigious track record at his home track as the driver with the most laps of competitive racing there.

“I’ve been looking forward to this race all season. I got an amazing feeling during last year’s Nationwide Series race at Iowa when I circled the track and the stands were packed with fans from my home state. Having the support of all those fans makes our sport what it is today, and I’m really excited to see how well NASCAR is being embraced by the fans at Iowa Speedway. I can’t wait to hit the track again on Saturday,” said Annett.

Growing up just miles from the Newton, Iowa track, Annett gained experience there competing in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards as well as the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division events.

Annett made his debut in the ARCA Racing Series at Iowa Speedway in June 2007, where the young driver won the SIM Factory Pole Award, led eight laps of the 250 lap race, and came home with a third place finish as he made his first start in the series. The Germain Racing driver also scored an 11th place finish in the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Iowa Speedway.

“I take a lot of pride in my home track. It’s one of the nicest facilities we visit, and a fun track to compete on as well,” said Annett, “Heading into race week at Iowa, I spend the whole week making appearances in the area and catching up with those who have been there for me since the start of my racing career. My family, friends, fan base and many of my sponsors are here in the Midwest, so it’s a fun week leading into race day at Iowa Speedway.”

Annett will also serve as Nationwide Insurance's Driver of the Week. He will be featured on the NASCAR Nationwide Series' official website NASCARnationwideseries.com for the week. Read Michael’s profile, check out videos, pictures and be sure to register for the Nationwide Insurance Code Spotter Sweepstakes - Spot Codes, Play and Win Prizes. Annett’s special code "ANNETT" is active July 28 and may be entered once a day until Aug. 28 at CodeSpotter.com. A Michael Annett prize pack is part of this weekend's featured premium items.

Looking forward to Iowa Speedway’s hosting of their second NASCAR Nationwide Series race, hometown favorite Annett will hit the pavement at Iowa Speedway this weekend proudly piloting the No. 15 Northland Oil Toyota Camry for Germain Racing as he vies for the win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 presented by Northland Oil and John Deere at Iowa Speedway. Practice gets underway on Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with final practice following from 7-8 p.m. Race day begins with qualifying at 4:05 p.m. and the green flag drops for the 250 lap race at 7:30 p.m. Watch live race coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN 2.
