Kids Crash Course

Always aiming to please our youngest fans, Iowa Speedway began a youth focused program in 2015 based on NASCAR Acceleration Nation. Building upon the foundation created in 2015, the track has added new layers each year to create a dynamic and robust youth platform, by providing Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based race day activities for kids.

Crash Course 2.0 presented by U.S. Cellular, sits above Turn 1 on the Concourse. Intended to serve as the activation hub for kids, Crash Course helps to decipher the physics of racing for fans of all ages and experience levels. This year, kids can try their hand at Pit Crew duties, using our brand-new tire changer. For those preferring auto design to lug nuts, Lego cars are available for building and racing down our Crash Course ramp, where the concepts of "downforce" and "drag" are on full display.

In addition to Crash Course and the STEM platform, Iowa Speedway hosts an exclusive, kids only, Q&A session with drivers each race weekend. These sessions allow the sport’s youngest fans to ask the important questions that adults may forget. For specifics on times and locations, please view our detailed race weekend schedule.

Iowa Speedway has also joined NASCAR in an industry-wide initiative granting free Single Event Tickets for fans aged 12 and under (with a ticketed parent) to all NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events in 2017. To further showcase a commitment to our youngest fans, Iowa Speedway is proud to extend this youth initiative to include all six event days (eight events in total) in 2017. On race days, Youth Tickets can be purchased at Ticket Booths 1 and 2; please note that Youth Tickets are not offered in advance. Children must be present during purchase, and Iowa Speedway Ticketing Staff must validate the full-price purchase of an adult ticket for every two Youth Tickets sold. For more information on Youth Tickets call the Iowa Speedway Box Office at 866.787.8946.
