Here’s what fans can expect to see this weekend:
Each year between Memorial Day and Independence Day, the motorsports industry comes together for NASCAR Salutes Refreshed by Coca-Cola – the NASCAR industry’s collective expression of reverence, respect and gratitude for those who have served and continue to defend the United States today.
This year, Iowa Speedway will have military displays on the Concourse, in addition to a Swearing-In Ceremony by the United States Air Force prior to the start of the NASCAR Xfinity Series CircuitCity.com 250 presented by Tamron. NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series
The fifth annual NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series kicks off on Saturday, June 15, following the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series M&M’S 200 presented by Casey’s General Store. After the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series race is “Dust in The Wind,” Iowa Speedway fans will rock out as musical legends, KANSAS, take center stage at the Party Pavilion – overlooking Turn 4 immediately following Casey’s General Store’s Victory Lane celebration – playing hits including rock anthem “Carry on Wayward Son.”
Fan Competitions and Activities
Competition isn’t limited to the on-track action at The Fastest Short Track on the Planet, as fans will have the opportunity to meet the next generation of NASCAR stars during Gander Trucks and Xfinity Series autograph sessions on both Saturday and Sunday. The Infield Fan Walk also returns for another season, affording fans an inside look at the garage and pit area as the teams prepare to go on track. Other activities include an annual bags tournament, oversized pong and live music from Iowa roots band, Brother Trucker, in the Turn 4 Barefoot Bar Tent.
Fans can also take advantage of a mini golf course in the Infield Fan Walk, a Lumberjack show on the concourse and the Iowa Speedway Signature Food eating competition in the Turn 4 Barefoot Bar Tent.
Youth Ticketing Program
Beginning in 2017, NASCAR launched an industry-wide initiative granting free Single Event Tickets for fans 12 and under (with a ticketed parent) to all NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series events. Iowa Speedway extended this offer to all six event days and is pleased to bring this initiative back for the 2019 season.
Please note that free Youth Tickets are for Grandstand seats only, and not offered in the Newton Club, Suite Tower or Terrace Camping. To purchase Youth Tickets, please call or visit the Iowa Speedway Box Office. On race days, fans may also visit Ticket Booths 1 and 2. Children must be present during purchase and Iowa Speedway Staff must validate the full-price purchase of an adult ticket for every two Youth Tickets sold. For more information on Youth Tickets, call the Iowa Speedway Box Office at 866.787.8946.
Iowa Speedway continues its mission to create unique experiences for every member of the family. Set in motion back in 2015, the speedway offers special youth-only VIP opportunities to further promote the science of racing and emphasize the importance of cultivating young fans through Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based activities.
- Crash Course presented by U.S. Cellular – Located in Turn 1 of the concourse, Crash Course is the race day activation hub for children. Terms like “downforce” and “drag” may be difficult to explain, even to adults, but hands-on experiments in Crash Course will help decipher the physics behind racing for fans of all ages.
- Kids Q&A – On Sunday June 16, Iowa Speedway will host a Q&A session between Ryan Ellis, a NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, and the sport’s youngest fans. The Kids Q&A will take place at the Crash Course presented by U.S. Cellular display at 11:10 a.m. CT. Parents are also invited to attend. Like working press, no autographs of drivers will be allowed, but lifelong memories will be created.
