M&M’S 200, CircuitCity.com 250 doubleheader set for Sunday
NEWTON, Iowa (June 15, 2019) – Race fans will get a double dose of racing action at Iowa Speedway Sunday afternoon. With dangerous storms approaching Iowa Speedway, and no abatement in the forecast, NASCAR and speedway officials opted to postpone Saturday night’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series M&M’S 200 presented by Casey’s General Store until 11:00 a.m. CDT on Sunday. The race has been added to Sunday’s program creating a doubleheader with the NASCAR Xfinity Series CircuitCity.com 250 presented by Tamron on Sunday afternoon.
“NASCAR and Iowa Speedway have decided to postpone tonight’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race until tomorrow,” said Iowa Speedway President David Hyatt. “Fan safety is our number one priority.
“With dangerous storms enveloping the speedway late in the afternoon and rain continuing into the evening, we did not see any opportunity to get the race completed tonight.”
When the race starts on Sunday, rookie Chandler Smith will lead the field to the green flag, earning the pole when the starting lineup was determined according to owner points after qualifying was rained out. ThorSport Racing’s Grant Enfinger will start beside him on the front row.
All fans with a ticket to either the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series M&M’S 200 presented by Casey’s General Store or the NASCAR Xfinity Series CircuitCity.com 250 presented by Tamron will be admitted for both races. Please keep event tickets to re-enter the facility on Sunday. Iowa Speedway does not refund or exchange tickets under any circumstances.
Fans should plan to arrive at Iowa Speedway early to avoid congestion. Parking lots open at 7:00 a.m. CDT. Qualifying for the NASCAR Xfinity Series CircuitCity.com 250 presented by Tamron will immediately follow the Gander Trucks race. Start time for the race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
