Things to Know for Iowa Speedweek

First back-to-back race weekends offer fun-filled entertainment for the entire family

 

NEWTON, Iowa (July 17, 2019)  – For the first time in Iowa Speedway’s history, fans are preparing for back-to-back race weekends – Iowa Speedweek – featuring the NTT IndyCar Series Iowa 300 on July 20 and culminating with the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 on July 27.

Tickets for the ARCA Menards Series Fans with Benefits 150 and the NTT IndyCar Series Iowa 300 can be purchased at www.iowaspeedway.com or by calling 866.787.8946.

Here is a brief summary of some of the activity’s fans can expect during Iowa Speedweek:

American Red Cross Blood Drive

The community is again invited to join the race to help save lives with NTT IndyCar Series driver and blood recipient James Hinchcliffe. For the second consecutive year, Iowa Speedway will host a special American Red Cross James Hinchcliffe Challenge Blood Drive presented by INDYCAR Cares, Iowa Speedway Cares and the NTT IndyCar Series. The event is Thursday, July 18, from noon to 5 p.m. CT at the Newton Club at Iowa Speedway with a goal to collect 40 blood donations.

Visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code iaspeedway or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.

Horsepower Hour LIVE

Following the James Hinchcliffe Challenge Blood Drive presented by INDYCAR Cares, Iowa Speedway Cares and the NTT IndyCar Series, fans are invited to join KIX 101.1’s Todd Collins and Iowa Speedway President David Hyatt to preview the NTT IndyCar Series Iowa 300. Fans are invited to join the festivities in the Newton Club from 5:30-7:30 p.m. CT on July 18, and again with NASCAR Xfinity Stars on Thursday, July 25 at the same time.

Drivers scheduled to appear include Felix Rosenqvist, Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Takuma Sato and Santino Ferrucci.

NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series

The fifth annual NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series will take center stage once again. Dream Warriors, Dokken, will keep the house rocking following the conclusion of the ARCA Racing Series Fans with Benefits 150. Dokken will rock the Party Pavilion, overlooking Turn 4, following Casey’s General Stores Victory Lane activities on July 19.

The following week, Granger Smith and his rowdy alter ego Earl Dibbles Jr. will close out the season with hits including “Backroad Song” and “The Country Boy Song” following the conclusion of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Casey’s General Store 150  on July 26.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series New Hampshire Watch Party

With campgrounds remaining open throughout the week, the Newton Club will be open on Sunday, July 21 for a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series New Hampshire watch party.  Fans will be invited to compete in a “Racing Bingo” contest throughout the race with additional games and prizes taking place.

U.S. Cellular 250 Hunger Fight Meals from The Heartland Packing Event

Iowa Speedway has a longstanding reputation for giving back to the community. When Meals from the Heartland visits Iowa Speedway on July 23, speedway staff will be among eager volunteers to package meals to help fight hunger. Iowa Speedway staff and volunteers will work in an assembly line putting together rice and soy-based meals that can feed up to six people per package.

Meals from the Heartland is a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers who package non-perishable meals year-round for delivery to malnourished people in Iowa, across the United States and around the world.

The second annual U.S. Cellular 250 Hunger Fight will begin in the Newton Club at Iowa Speedway at 10:00 a.m. CT with an orientation to explain the process with meal packaging to run through noon.

Pace Car Rides

With a $20 Donation to Iowa Speedway Cares, fans will have the opportunity to take a pace car ride around the banks of Iowa Speedway on Tuesday, July 23 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. CT departing from the credentials building outside of Turns 1 &2.

Iowa Speedway Cares is a Donor Advised Fund of the NASCAR Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization based in Daytona Beach, FL.

Speedway BBQ

Iowa Speedway will also be providing dinner for campers on Tuesday, July 23 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. CT in the general campground. Live music will follow the dinner and all remaining campers are invited to enjoy a meal on us!

Newton Cares Golf Classic

NASCAR, Iowa Speedway Cares and the City of Newton have joined forces to tee off the inaugural Newton Cares Classic presented by Gregg Young celebrity golf tournament on Thursday, July 25. Teams of 4 must be pre-registered at www.newtonclassic.org.

To be held at Westwood Golf Course in Newton, Iowa, the event will feature world-class athletes with Iowa ties and several stars of the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The tournament will feature celebrity golfers and the next generation of NASCAR stars competing to raise funds for non-profits in Jasper County and central Iowa. The NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers will be in town early to bring down the curtain on Iowa Speedweek – the speedway’s first ever back-to-back race weekends featuring the NTT IndyCar Series Iowa 300 on July 20 and culminating with the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 on July 27.

Aerial Tours

The Newton Municipal Airport will be hosting Aerial tours of the speedway and City of Newton from noon-Sunset for only $15 per person. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of this unique bird’s eye perspective before the speedway’s final weekend of racing for 2019.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Hauler Parade

The annual NASCAR Xfinity Series Hauler parade has become a fan-favorite tradition to kick off the final race weekend for Iowa Speedway each season. The arrival of the NASCAR Xfinity Series haulers on July 25 at 6:30 p.m. CT will mark the start of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Casey’s General Store 150 and NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 weekend. Join fans as they welcome the team haulers to “The Fastest Short Track on the Planet.”

Post-Race Party

What started out as an Iowa Speedway original, the Post-Race Party on the Frontstretch has been replicated at other tracks throughout the industry. Following the checkered flag of the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250, speedway staff will open the catchfence, allowing fans to stream onto the freshly raced track surface. Once again, the annual post-race party will put the checkered flag out on the 2019 race season at Iowa Speedway on July 27. Cody Hicks will provide entertainment as fans gather on the frontstretch to celebrate another year of high-speed thrills and lifelong memories.
